Latest News On Your Warhawk Bowlers
Intercollegiate Team Championships
The Warharks made their way to Reno, NV for their first Intercollegiate Team Championships since 2008. While the team was confident in their abilities to perform, their efforts fell short of their expectations. The team qualified 12th and then went on to lose in the first round 2-4 to Webber International and then 3-4 to Clarke. While their departure from the event was quick, the experience gained will prove to be beneficial come Wichita in 2015!
There was some success had by the team. At the Night of Champions Banquet, Nick Kruml was honored as a National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association (NCBCA) Second Team All American and an International Bowling Media Association (IBMA) Bowler of the Year Honorable Mention. Head Coach, Shawn Wochner, was also named the NCBCA Kerm Helmer Coach of the Year! Both honors recognize the individual contributions as well as recognize the team for their growth and success on the lanes. Congratulations to everyone!

WARHAWKS QUALIFY FOR NATIONALS!
For only the second time in school history, the men's team will be heading to the XBowling Intercollegiate Team Championships. The guys qualified in fine fashion by finishing 2nd at the Allentown, PA sectional. While the guys had the lead every set on Saturday, they struggled a bit Sunday morning before coming out with back to back 910 baker sets in the afternoon. From there, they never looked back! Best of luck to the Warhawks as the venture to Reno April 15-20!
WCBC CHAMPIONS!!!!
While the end result was what we were looking for, the journey wasn't quite as mapped out. The Warhawks found themselves sitting in 3rd place, 272 pins back from first. It came all the way down to the very last game, very last frame to find out whether or not the Warhawks would capture their 9th consecutive WCBC tournament win. Fortunately for the Warhawks, the UW Milwaukee anchor Tyler Tschetter was not able to capture the necessary double to allow the Warhawks to win the tournament by 2! 2 or 777, a win is a win!
In the championship bracket, the Warhawks took every match to the final game and final frames! We were able to edge by UW Platteville 2-1 winning it because their anchor Bo Bertolini was not able to catch a double in the 10th. Then in the championship match, it found the Warhawks going up against UW Milwaukee! This one was a best of 5. Of course, in true Whitewater fashion, they took it to game 5, tied 2-2. Thankfully for the Warhawks, this time the ball was in the hand of Nick Kruml! He needed the first one in the 10th to lock up our second championship in 3 years, and was able to do it! Congratulations UW Whitewater on the 2014 WCBC Championship! Nick Kruml was also named to the All Conference Team!

Another conference tournament, another win!
With two recruits in tote, the team ventured to AMF West Lanes in Milwaukee, WI for the third installment of the Wisconsin Collegiate Bowling Conference. While the varsity guys got out to a slow start and losing to Milwaukee, they were able to end the first day with roughly a 200 pin lead and going 377 over for six team games.
Sunday was looking to be very different through practice. There was only one maybe two players that looked like they had a look in practice. The coaches went with their guts and set the line up with Nick, Josh, Ryne, Jim and Cory. The team shot 194 the first game, which was honestly above what the coaches had expected based on practice. But that would go on to be one of their lowest games of the day. Not sure if it was just a bad pair or if the guys just weren't awake yet or not, but the team went on to shoot 4 game baker sets of 846, 882, 920, 931 and 904, going 483 pins over for the 20 baker games. The guys showed amazing teamwork and communication throughout the day! Kris and I cold not be more proud of these guys!

New Tier 1 was successful
With the Blue and Gold Classic losing their Tier 1 status and USBC Collegiate creating a new Tier 1 in Addison, IL (site of one of the four sectional qualifiers), it was a no brainer for the Warhawks to participate. Because the team was still on their semester break, we met a little early on Friday night for a little practice session at Fox Bowl where Nick Kruml works. We were able to spend a couple of hours bowling on the tournament condition as well as having the opportunity to do a little ball work.
Once the tournament got underway on Saturday, we didn't come out of the gates as strong as we would have liked. We started with games of 939 and 941. After a short team meeting and changing a player in the line up, the team was able to rebound and fire out a nice 1101 game. Game four saw another good pair as we were able to shoot 1078 before struggles with spares game five and ending the day on a 979. The team regrouped over night and came out with a different strategy Sunday morning and fired two 1100 games in route to a nice 4th place finish! Very proud of the team for never giving up and continuing to fight all the way to the end. These guys showed tremendous promise for post season!

East Coast Swing
While getting the team together on Christmas night was not ideal, their trip out east proved to be successful. The team, along with two sets of parents, flew out of Milwaukee at 6:00am on December 26th and landed safely in New York City! While in NYC, the team visited the 9/11 Memorial and saw some other Lower Manhattan sites before heading off to Allentown, PA. In Allentown, we were joined by one other family who drove to join us.
Once bowling got started, the Warhawks were ready to show the east coast schools what we are made of. Both events saw the same outcome, being jumped by Saginaw Valley State University on the second day during bakers. But the Warhawks are happy with a 7th and a 4th place finish in tier 1's.
Now time to refocus our efforts and get geared up for the spring semester. Coming up we have the new ISBPA/Kegel Midwest Collegiate, followed by 2 weeks of WCBC tournaments followed by the granddaddy of them all, the Hoosier Classic. Follow all of our results here on the website, on Facebook as well as Twitter!
Recent Updates
I sincerely apologize for the delay in updating this website! This fall was very hectic for me as we were short staffed at work, which caused me to not get this website updated. But all of the individual tournament pages are updated and I have created all the profiles for the current team members. There are some pictures that need to be changed, but we will be doing pictures once we are back in January.
As far as results go, our fall semester has been successful, although not to the level we had hoped. Through week 12, the Warhawks are ranked 10th (unofficially) in the nation. Through the Warhawk Open last year, we were ranked 19th with 110 points averaged per event (giving us 2090 points). This year, we are at an average of 146 points per events, thus giving us 2782 points. While we are disappointed with some of our finishes, if we were a football or basketball team, we would be elated with a 10th place ranking. So we will work very hard out east to get our first ever Tier 1 win in program history! And with the field out there, we firmly believe that we can make that happen! So be watching our facebook and twitter accounts for live updates from the tournaments December 27-30!
